In the Excel with dets sent 2019-03-14, T. Daniel stated, "In a species complex, may eventually prove distinct". In an email of 2019-03-14, T. Daniel noted, "Justicia spicigera 21907, 72139, 80075, 86044 (your specimens have been very useful in helping me understand more about the J. spicigera complex of taxa; I am reasonably certain that these with large and somewhat clasping leaves, and that do not yield the blue dye) have been described as a species under an older generic synonym of Justicia; if so, a new name would be needed for them; I'm going to work on this very soon to verify everything and deal with it, so more soon on these with the large leaves)"
