In his email of 2017-05-11, T. Daniel noted, "Justicia cf. breviflora (Nees) Rusby [differs in several characters from plants of this species I've worked with, but apparently does not conform to any other sp.; J. brev. is a widespread taxon and may have greater morphological variation than I have attributed to it in the regions of Mexico where I have studied it; I do not believe that species has been reprorted from Puebla, but I would not report it based on this collection until I knew some more about variation in the species; it might be something different! I have several "J. cf. breviflora" specimens from other parts of Mexico--whether they all truly pertain to that species is something I will have to sort out--one of several remaining messy taxonomic issues in Justicia]."
