DEMCA: In his email of 8 Feb. 2010, Sven Landrien stated: "Nevertheless there is a revision of Sambucus by Richard Bolli in Dissertationes Botanicae Band 223 1994. This is a good revision and makes things much easier S. mexicanus is listed there as a taxa of uncertain application and possibly a S. nigra ssp. cerulea. In the revision there is only one Sambucus in Mexico which is S. nigra var cerulea which looks very similar.
